Climate Change

Climate change is happening now. Climate change is the biggest environmental threat facing us today. Caused by the greenhouse gases released by burning oil, coal and gas, climate change is threatening the lives and livelihoods of millions people. We are currently campaigning to:

Corporate Power

The size and influence of some corporations dwarfs that of many countries. Their power shapes all our lives - as workers, consumers or citizens.

Yet corporations are driven by profit - not social needs or environmental sustainability. Their unaccountable power is driving policies that keep the poor poor, degrade our environment, abuse human rights and undermine democracy. It’s time to put people and planet before profit.

The People & Planet network is working up a new campaign to challenge corporate power, to be launched in September 2009.

Economic Justice

World trade rules are hurting the poor. Despite the enormous wealth of the global economy, more than half the worldīs people still live on less than two dollars a day. International trade should be helping —- but it isnīt. Instead unjust trade rules are keeping the poor locked in poverty. People & Planet is currently campaigning to rewrite these rules and for students to Redress Fashion and go for Fairtrade status in schools and colleges.
